Don't Wax It! The Benefits of Sugaring

Waxing has been a method of hair removal for a hundred years. Who hasn’t been waxed? Although it may be a very common way to get rid of your unwanted hair, did you know that it is damaging your skin? If you’re skin is sensitive like mine, you probably learned that wax wasn’t for you very quickly. Luckily, an ancient practice from the middle east, sugaring, is now taking over the hair removal industry. Sugaring is an all natural alternative to wax. It uses just 3 ingredients (sugar, water, lemon juice) and is used at room temperature or heated to a lukewarm temperature which means, no, you will not face the risk of being burned!

Traditional hair removal wax contains chemicals like Glyceryl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Dipropylene Glycol Dibenzoate, and Methyl Hydrogenated Rosinate which are toxic to your body and harm your skin. Waxing also doesn't just remove hair, but it can stick to and remove your living skin and cause major irritation! Red, blotchy, torn apart skin is one look that no one wants to wear. Sugaring only adheres to hair and dead skin cells, which also means you will get a nice exfoliation while getting silky smooth, hairless skin.

How it works: There are several different ways to use sugar wax. You can use it slightly warmed and use fabric strips, or there is the traditional "balling method" where a professional will scoop an appropriate amount of sugar paste into their hand and spread it up against the growth pattern of the hair, then pull it down, with the growth of the hair, and they will use the same ball of sugar paste over an entire area. The sugar paste also works as an anti-bacterial so the risk of infection simply is not there. The sugaring experience is far less painful than traditional waxing and overall better for you.

Have I mentioned that sugaring is completely natural? You can literally eat it. It has been made in the middle east since 1900 BC. Why are we just now hearing about this? Sugaring exceeds waxing in every way imaginable, and if you have not tried it, you absolutely need to schedule an appointment for a life changing experience.
